22nd Crusader Classic Golf Tournament Recap

On September 30, 2020, in Events, News

After a long summer apart, the BAC community was back together (although masked) at this weekend’s 22nd Annual Crusader Classic Golf Tournament! Over 120 participants joined us on Friday, September 25th for a day of golf with great weather, great views, and most importantly, great company.

This year, we were excited to bring the tournament to Canterbury Woods Country Club (who also graciously joined us as a Presenting Sponsor) for the first time! Tucked away along the Merrimack River, the course boasts impressive scenery and sweeping mountain views. The foliage this time of year provided a spectacular backdrop for golfers as they navigated the challenging inclines of each tee. Check out a few photos of the course and tournament below!

In an effort to create a safe and socially distant tournament, the morning began with a contactless check-in. Participants were instructed to scan a QR code to access a tournament app they would utilize throughout the day. The app allowed participants to do everything from finding their carts, viewing course maps, and purchasing raffle tickets and passports right from their phone.

While on the course, participants adhered to New Hampshire’s coronavirus guidelines and wore masks when social distancing was not possible. Although some changes to meals and high contact competitions were made, these precautions allowed participants to compete in a safe, low-risk outdoor environment.

Throughout the day, participants competed in a series of competitions for longest drive, closest to the pin, and raffles. All of the winners can be viewed here. Plus, the winner of our 50/50 was announced! In August, we launched our first ever online 50/50 using the independent third party company, RallyUp. This platform allowed us to conduct a hands-off 50/50 experience for fans across the country. RallyUp tallies, selects, and notifies winners independent of the BAC/Inspire Arts administration. Congratulations to Michael Woodall who not only won, but donated his winnings of $2,967 back to the corps!

Most importantly, thank you to all of our sponsors for making the 22nd Crusader Classic possible! We were fortunate to have the support of our Presenting Sponsors GIBC, Canterbury Woods Country Club, and Putnam Investments and Associate Sponsors State Street, Broadridge, and SS&C among countless other companies and individuals.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Bob MacCormack and Canterbury Woods for going above and beyond to support the Boston Crusaders. Not only did Canterbury Woods join us as a Presenting Sponsor, but Bob and his team donated back the golf registration fees, refreshment cart proceeds, and bar proceeds. Throughout the entire process we were incredibly impressed by Canterbury Woods’ kindness, pristine course, and helpful staff. We cannot wait to host another tournament there soon. If you get the chance to play the course, you will certainly be impressed.
