SUPPORT TEAM INSPIRE IN THE BOSTON MARATHON

Running for the Whitman Family Legacy

This year, join Kerry, Katy, and Jennifer as they join the Whitman Family in the 2026 Boston Marathon in support of the Boston Crusaders/Inspire Arts & Music!

The Whitman Family has been involved with the Boston Crusaders going all the way back to the 1940s with Joe Whitman (HOF) and his leadership role with Most Precious Blood Crusaders. Don Whitman (HOF) marched for many years, along with his sisters, Marsha and Linda. All three married fellow Crusaders. Don and Alices’ 3 sons, Gary, Jeff, and Steve, all marched and 2 married fellow crusaders. Jeff’s wife Marsha currently serves on the Board of Directors for Inspire Arts and Music. The Whitman family has logged over 50 years of marching with the MPB, Hyde Park Crusaders, and the Boston Crusaders.

In honor of the Boston Crusaders first world championship in 2025 and in memory of the Whitman legacy, Kerry, Katy, and Jennifer are running the 2026 Boston Marathon in support of the Boston Crusaders/Inspire Arts & Music. Please join the team as they raise funds to support Inspire Arts and Music and the Boston Crusaders music education programming.

MEET THE TEAM

Kerry McCabe

Kerry McCabe is honored to be running the Boston Marathon in support of the Boston Crusaders/ Inspire Arts & Music. Their mission to help members reach their highest potential as both individuals and artists through education, competition, and personal growth is truly inspiring.

I was first introduced to this incredible organization through the Whitman family, who I consider a second family to me.They are not only loyal alumni and active supporters of the corps, but their family legacy and contributions go back generations. Their experience has opened my eyes to just how transformative the Boston Crusaders community really is.

By fundraising for this organization, I hope to help more young people have access to these life-changing opportunities. Every mile I run is dedicated to supporting their passion and hard work, and every donation makes a difference. Thank you so much for your support!

Katy Garvin

I’m running the Boston Marathon this year to support the Boston Crusaders, an organization that’s been giving young people incredible musical and personal growth experiences for decades. Their mix of hard work, creativity, and community really inspires me, and I love that they help so many young performers find confidence and direction. By fundraising for them, I’m hoping to play a small part in making sure more kids get the chance to be part of something this special. Every donation truly makes a difference, and I’m so grateful for the support!

Jennifer Young

I grew up in Texas convinced I hated running — even though I kept trying — but I loved music. From choir to band to drum corps, music grounded me and gave me a community. It shaped who I was. But in my early 20s, kids and work pulled me in other directions, and I quit both running and music.

Years later, during one of the hardest moments of my life, I found my way back to music. Artists singing about resilience and rising from struggle reignited something in me. If they could find their way back, maybe I could too.

That spark became movement. I laced up again for a 10k I never expected to attempt again. Training with music in my ears reminded me who I was. I fell in love with running again.

Since then, I’ve completed four 10-milers, twelve half marathons, and three marathons, with more on the horizon. I’m lucky to have a husband who’s my biggest cheerleader and a family of six kids and one amazing granddaughter that celebrates every finish line with me.

I often think about the version of me who stepped away from the things she loved. Now, I show up fully. And I know that without music in my youth, I would never be who I am today. That’s why supporting Team Inspire means so much to me — I want other kids to have the same chance to discover themselves through music.

With persistence — and the right soundtrack — we can all find our way back to who we were meant to be.
