2019 Auditions Recap

On December 19, 2018, in News

Five states… Nine different 1-day auditions… plus video auditions. Over 500 auditionees for the chance to join our returning members and cast the 79th edition of the Boston Crusaders.

With shows like “Wicked Games” and “SOS” fueling a surge in the BAC brand – and competitive success – the influx of new talent was not surprising but still rather shocking. The auditions culminated with a weekend callback camp in Lakewood Ranch, FL December 14-16. 108 premium quality brass performers and 60 percussionists were on hand for a full weekend of choreography, marching and music. The atmosphere was exciting and intense. The staff carefully evaluated and deliberated, making very difficult and close decisions on many hopefuls.

By Sunday afternoon, member contracts and some alternate positions in the brass section were finalized. For the percussion, the battery and front ensemble were set as the returning percussion were on site participating. Our next camp is a production camp, January 4-6. It will take place in Lakewood Ranch, where our returning brass members will be present and all will be working on the 2019 production music. We congratulate and welcome all the new members of the Boston Crusaders and we are very confident that 2019 will be an epic BAC year!

Many thanks to the many administrators, volunteers, band directors and music programs who helped make our round one auditions and round two callback camp a quality process and experience. We cannot wait to complete guard auditions at the April camp.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! The “Spring Preview” will return! The brass and percussion will perform a free show for family and friends on April 28th in Lakewood Ranch, FL. Paper good donations accepted at the entrance. More details to come!

Happy Holidays and thank you for all of the support in 2018! The 2019 summer will be here before we know it!
